After breakfast get transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu to board flight to Lhasa, Tibet. After arriving at Gonggar Airport in Lhasa, it will take about 1.5 hours for the group to reach the hotel. Spend the first day free to acclimatize with the altitude as Kathmandu is at 1200 m above sea level and Lhasa is at 3550 m above sea level. If time and health permits, we will visit Sera monastery in the evening.
Lhasa is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. After breakfast take a tour of Lhasa visiting Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street and Potala Palace.
Lhasa to Shigatse is a very comfortable Drive. Enjoy first experience of driving on theTibetan plateau with awe inspiring views.
Tibet is the roof of the world. You will enjoy sight of the most beautiful lakes ontop of the world.
The drive is very long. The road condition is fair. Enjoy vast Tibetan plateau, landscape changes from sandy dunes to rocky vistas to savannah type. This is the most auspicious day for all of us, as some of us might have waited for long, maybe since many life times to get the first glimpse of holy Mt.Kailas and sacred Lake Mansarovar. We will perform half Mansarovar Parikrama by jeep or bus today. Overnight at guest house at Lake Mansarovar.
Feel the experience of being in the abode of God. A lifetime achievement. Puja, Havan-worship, Meditation, Holy dip, Tarpan etc. Here relax and explore around the Mansarovar area. Overnight at same guest house.
After breakfast, drive approx. 10kms. to place called “Tarboche’, the starting trek point of Kailash Parikrama. One can pick up a chit (draw) for porter and horse, the rule is you cannot choose your porter or horse. The first day of Parikrama from Tarboche is a gradual walk. Mesmerizing trail and different shapes of Holy Mountain can be seen. The trail leads us to few ups and downs till we reach our camp/guest house at Derapuk(4,920m) 7km/5-6hours trek. Huge Shivlingam view of Holy Mt.Kailash, north west face. Overnight in camp/Guest House.
Todays Parikrama leads to much higher side of holy path just beneath the Holy Mount Kailash. The walk will bring us to one of the highest point at Dolma La, 5,200m. before descending to the gradual field towards Zutulpuk for the overnight stay after 5-6hours walk. Overnight inZutulpuk.
"The morning can be spent exploring the caves and visiting the temples and shrine that has been built around Milarepa’s cave. One imagines Milarepa’s disciples meditating here. Many of the caves contain meditation platforms, self-contained by dry stonewalls which seperate them from their cooking and entrance areas. It is well worth the short climb up to these caves before beginning the final stage of the trek. The winding gradual tracks finally ends our holy pilgrimage walk 8km/4-5hrs. Once we reach at the trek end point near Darchen, our bus will be waiting to take the group back to Darchen. Darchen to Saga is 6hours drive."
Saga to Kerong is 6 hours drive. At Kerong, after immigration we will cross border to take helicopters for Kathmandu.
Our representative will drop you to the airport for your International departure from Kathmandu.
HIGH ALTITUDE TREKKING & CLIMBING
The pleasures of trekking in the world's highest mountain ranges are immense and so are some dangers. Altitude sickness can affect some people at as low as 8,000 feet, but serious symptoms do not usually occur until over 12,000 feet. Even then it is not the height that is important but the rate of ascent. Acute mountain sickness (AMS) is actually more common in fit young men because they are more likely to attempt a rapid climb by racing up the mountain like some ego boosted super hero! As a general rule, it is far safer (and more enjoyable) to avoid altitude sickness by planning a sensible itinerary that allows for gradual acclimatization to high altitude as you ascend, (You can race back down as fast as you like!).
2,500 to 4,000 meters
8,000 to 13,000 feet
4,000 to 5,500 meters
13,000 to 18,000 feet
Over 5,500 meters
Over 18,000 feet
What is High Altitude?
It is difficult to determine who may be affected by altitude sickness since there is no specific factor such as age, sex, or physical condition that correlate with susceptibility. Some people get it and some don’t. Most people can ascend up to 2,500 meters (8,000 feet) with little or no effect. If you have been at that altitude before, you can probably return to that altitude without problems as long as you are properly acclimatized. If you haven't been to high altitude before, you should exercise extreme caution while doing so.
Water is the best medicine for high attitude sickness.
This is the most tried and tested drug for altitude sickness prevention and treatment. (For prevention, 125 to 250mg twice daily starting one or two days before and continuing for three days once the highest altitude is reached is effective.. Gradual ascent is always desirable to try to avoid acute mountain sickness but if rapid ascent is undertaken and actazolamide is used, it should be noted that such use does not cut out the need for a prompt descent if severe forms of high altitude sickness occur, i.e. pulmonary or cerebral edema. Side effects of acetazolamide include: an uncomfortable tingling of the fingers, toes and face carbonated drinks tasting flat; excessive urination; and rarely, blurring of vision. On most treks, gradual ascent is possible and prophylaxis tends to be discouraged. If trekkers develop headache and nausea or the other symptoms of AMS then treatment with acetazolamide is fine. The treatment dosage is 250 mg twice a day for about three day.) Noted from medical literature.
Yatri should remember that both Kailas and Mansarovar are at a very high altitude and to go there one should get medically checked and be properly equipped.
Following tests are essential.

The best way to stay fit in the Kailas and Mansarovar region is to follow few simple rules. First and most important is water, please start drinking at least three litters of water from the day you decide you want to go for this yatra. During the yatra please keep drinking three to four liters of water everyday. Stay mentally fit; give time for acclimatization to avoid high altitude sickness.
Consumption of medicines should be avoided as far as possible which makes the body more prone to weakness. However in case of acute emergencies medicines may be advisable. Most of the pilgrims going on this pilgrimage do not consume garlic but for high altitude garlic pearls swallowed with water couple of times during the day avoids most of the inconveniences. For precautionary measures DIAMOX is one medicine that reduces the risk of getting high altitude sickness. We will provide this medicine to all pilgrims as and when needed. Other than this homeopathic medicines for high altitude are very helpful which your private practitioner or a registered Homeopathy store would advice you on. Ayurvedic medicines with honey are excellent for avoiding the maximum illnesses arising in high altitude. Other than this, please take your regular medicines that you have been prescribed by your family doctor. Recent first aid kits containing various sprays for injury, burns, sprains, etc. are very useful. Then Glucose, Electrolyte powder, cough syrups etc.
We strongly recommend you to consult your own doctor before you start the trip and bring the medications as per his/her advice.
However following items are worth to bring:
